From Betsy, Catherine and Emma:
We can all probably agree that denim is a wardrobe staple for all. Although jeans have been around since the 1800’s, denim has continually reinvented itself in the world of fashion. From the craze over 70’s flares to our favorite lived-in jacket, denim is forever in our wardrobe and hearts.
In honor of the classic fabric, here’s a roundup of some top fashion picks for denim:
THE COOL DENIM SKIRT BEAT
After the daring and distressed minis of the 2000's, you may have thought we’d never see a jean skirt again. Proving the truth of the phrase "never say never", this summer brought the revival of the denim skirt -- not only in mini but midi too!
BOYS FACES JEANS
We had to add in this piece from ASHISH combining art and denim. A loud statement, these unisex boyfriend jeans are comfortable - AND have sequins. We recommend a simple white tee in order to direct all focus to the pants. Lok closely to discover that the five sequined faces are the original One Direction. It's a little awkward that Zayn's face is still there - but hey, you can say that they're vintage!
MOTO DENIM WESTERN DRESS
This Topshop dress is a style steal, combining two of the biggest trends of the season: denim and western wear. It’s also a perfect piece to transition into the colder months that lay ahead… wear it now with a pair of white sneakers and later when it’s cold; trade in the sneakers for tights and a pair of leather ankle boots!
MOTO MID BLUE TALLY FLARES
Another denim item banished by many was the infamous 1970's flare. Now abandoning the skinny jeans silhouette, we find the forgotten pair. Not only are flared jeans back en vogue, but along with comes virtually everything else from the era - just maybe not disco.
LEVI'S SHERPA DENIM TRUCKER JACKET
Want a warmer denim jacket for fall? Add shearling! A denim jacket goes with almost anything and if you’re daring you can even do the denim on denim.
835 MID-RISE CAPRI
We thought we’d seen virtually every take on the skinny jean possible, but last fall we were introduced to ripped hem. Usually saved for our cutoffs, at first we were hesitant. But, this simple detail added an edginess that we love, and so we've quickly adopted this unorthodox take on a classic denim silhouette.
